Between natural light, organic materials, and iconic design pieces, Laurie Beaulieu opens the doors to her home, located on the Île Verte (Green Island) in Laval. Designed in the 1960s, the house was love at first sight, a foundational emotion that still guides the project today.
Conceived as a living, warm, and deeply personal sanctuary, this space is gradually being transformed through a carefully executed renovation, respecting its original character. Every choice has been made in a quest for balance between heritage and a contemporary perspective.
Through her furniture and decor choices, Laurie creates an instinctive world, guided by comfort, sustainability, and emotion, far from short-term trends. Interview.
Without hesitation, the living room. It's the heart of the house. In the morning, the light floods in, creating almost magical reflections through the large windows.
It's a central living space: I settle in there with my coffee, I spend a lot of time there with my baby, and we share our sweetest family moments there. It's also the room that made us fall in love with the house from the very first visit, thanks to its exceptional light and its connection to the outdoors.
It’s difficult to choose just one, as I have a genuine attachment to several Ligne Roset pieces.
The Peter Maly bed is undoubtedly one of the most important. It has been with us for several years and adapts to each home. It structures the bedroom and instantly gives it a calming and welcoming atmosphere. I also like to play with cushions to create different moods, especially a reading corner in the evening.
The Nils settee and the Togo armchair & footstool in leather also hold an essential place. Their comfort and timelessness make them irreplaceable. Even when we considered replacing the Nils, we immediately changed our minds: it is now an integral part of our home.
It's all quite instinctive, but three criteria always come up: comfort, durability, and that “crush”.
We place great importance on the materials, their longevity, and how a piece will evolve with us. The design must have a strong identity while remaining timeless.
The “Made in France” is also essential: it guarantees expertise, attention to detail, and a quality in which we have complete confidence. This explains the prominent place Ligne Roset holds in our home.
We favour materials that develop a patina and age beautifully: terracotta, wood, stone, and metal.
When it comes to textiles, we particularly love fabrics, Alcantara, and leather, which bring warmth and depth. The colours are always natural and inviting. We rely heavily on what we love, letting each element find its place naturally.
The Nils settee and the Togo armchair hold a very special place in our hearts. Their comfort, design, and durability make them essential pieces in our daily lives.
The Nils, which we had considered replacing, has ultimately become indispensable. As for the Togo, its enveloping and timeless appeal makes it a piece we always return to.
